Chris-Michael Carangelo Joins the Commercial Lines Team at DeCotis Specialty Insurance

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — DeCotis Specialty Insurance is pleased to announce that Chris-Michael Carangelo, a 30-year industry professional, has joined the company as a Commercial Lines broker.

In this role, Chris-Michael’s primary focus is nurturing current agency and carrier relationships and cultivating new ones. He says, “I am thrilled to have this opportunity to share the commercial lines experience and knowledge I’ve gained over several decades. Education is a passion of mine, so I look forward to helping coach our clients on the products and services available to solve their customers’ unique coverage needs.”

Chris-Michael’s extensive insurance career began in 1990 as a Personal Lines customer service representative at an independent agency in Medford, Massachusetts. Since then, he has held a wide variety of positions on both the agency and carrier sides, including account executive, producer, operations manager and several sales roles. Most recently, he was a territory management consultant with EMC Insurance Companies.

Director of Commercial Lines Jessica Wrigley says, “As a highly skilled and versatile professional, Chris-Michael has been able to hit the ground running at DeCotis. He has seamlessly transitioned into managing some of our most important agency and carrier relationships, and is making an immediate impact on our goals of growing our commercial, professional and specialty lines of business in Rhode Island and Connecticut.”

  1. Relying on commercial general liability fire legal liability coverage to insure leased premises when commercial property insurance is needed to satisfy the obligations in the lease.
  2. The lack of an employee benefits liability endorsement in the commercial general liability policy (or coverage in a separate fiduciary liability policy).
  3. Inattention to retroactive date and extended reporting period on claims-made coverage endorsements attached to occurrence trigger commercial general liability policies (e.g., employee benefits liability).
  4. Failing to provide additional insured status as required by contract.
  5. Lack of coverage, or inadequate coverage, for joint ventures and newly acquired companies.

Chris-Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts. He is also a Rhode Island licensed insurance producer for personal and commercial lines, a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), an Associate in Risk Management (ARM), a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) and an Associate in Underwriting (AU). Chris-Michael is also the author of a training book called “Life of a Salesperson: Understanding the Dynamics of Selling, Navigating Effectively Through the Process, and Developing a Practical Mindset,” which provides key lessons from his many successful years in sales and marketing.
